yes insisting that matel’s glorified toy ad movie is anticapitalist is a wild assertion. but it’s also fine to enjoy the dressing-up-in-pink movie without ritualistic self-admonishment and shame. like, you can enjoy a thing and also be aware that the thing is not going to liberate us from the shackles of capitalism. both things can be true.

Kind of a Reddit AITA post but sometimes it is a little funny to fuck with people in ways that deliberately conform to a stereotype of what they must think of you. the other day I was talking to my friend and I randomly said that I wanted a pet chimpanzee. I’d dress it in person clothes (dungarees and hats) and I’d teach it to love science fiction. And this girl nearby was like “you know how dangerous those things are, right? Also how unethical it is to keep an ape as your pet for your own amusement” and I was already seeing where the conversation was going so I was pretending ignorance like “yea but it wouldn’t just be for my amusement. It would have practical points too.” And she ignored that statement entirely to say “Well chimpanzees can rip faces off” and I was like. What’s the most frustrating thing I can say now. Finally settled on “Mine wouldn’t do that though.” and you could tell she wanted to hurt me very very badly. Like a chimpanzee would if I had one as a pet
hmmm how can i wrap my entire fucking life in the language of politics until every aspect of my being is a warped by overthinking, until i cannot approach any aspect of myself without justification and excuses and god damn paragraphs of theory. this seems like a really good idea and everyone else like me definitely ought to be doing this too

i think a lot of people just do not get how being tall and fat makes doing anything socially abnormal infinitely harder and more punishing than if we were skinny
like kink amd paraphilia shit aside as a fat person i straight up cant show my body without it being labeled violence. as a fat person im supposed to hide my body from view. im supposed to be ashamed and disgusted. thats how fat people are supposed feel. so anything even remotely based on aesthetics is immediately gatekept from me. fat people are the exception. nobody will say it but most people feel this way. people will say theyre accepting of abnormal behavior but as soon as a fat person does it its too far. nobody wants to see a fat person doing weird things bc being fat is weird so now its too weird
